Not able to open files (jpgs or PDFs) within Zotero: Report ID 751429094

Today, within the Zotero app, when I click on a jpg or PDF associated with a given Zotero item--within a Zotero group folder or within my personal library--I get this error message:

"A file sync error occurred. Please try syncing again.

If you receive this message repeatedly, restart Zotero and/or your computer and try again. If you continue to receive the message, submit an error report and post the Report ID to a new thread in the Zotero Forums."

Syncing again, restarting computer, etc. has not resolved the issue.

In Zotero online, however, I CAN click on a given file and open it.

I'm wondering if the easiest fix might be just to uninstall Zotero on my computer, then reinstall and sign in / sync?

Thanks for your help.

0x80520016 is NS_ERROR_FILE_FS_CORRUPTED, meaning that the disk or filesystem may be corrupted. You should check your filesystem for errors.

(If you've moved your data directory to a non-standard location, that could also be contributing.)
  • Thanks. I'll check it out.
