Give warning if potentially importing a duplicate
Hello,
It would be really nice if Zotero gave a warning if I was trying to import a reference that I already have. I realize this could get complicated in certain situations, but I suspect it's possible to get it right most of the time. e.g., Zotero already offers duplicate checking afterwards. Why not give the option to run that check at import?

Upgrade Storage
It would indeed be nice if the Zotero connector could flag potential duplicates *before* download. But that would add some search time to every connector download (IIRC that's why Zotero devs have preferred not to go that route, along with duplicate catching never being 100% accurate).
The method I use is to add direct searching of my Zotero web library to my browsers (Firefox and Chrome), so that when I find a paper title somewhere (or PMID) I can right-click search my library before downloading it (in the normal way via the connector) ...
