Changing the location of storage on the laptop

Hello,

I recently updated my Zotero to version 10.0.1. After the update, the software can“t find the papers that I have saved in the storage. The reason is that the Zotero storage is in C:\Users\NameSurname\Zotero, while after the update, the software looks for the papers in C:\Users\AzureAD_NameSurname_$\Zotero.

How can I fix this, so that all the papers saved in my library can be found, and that the papers that I will save in the future will be saved together with the existing one, and updated to the server and shared between devices? Is it enough to copy and paste the Zotero folder (that contains the storage) to the new path?

Thank you!

This sounds like a misunderstanding. C:\Users\[username]\Zotero is the Zotero data directory, where stores its database and stored (not linked) attachments. Stored files are always opened from the current data directory. So it doesn't matter where the data directory is as long as it's the same folder.

A Zotero update also wouldn't have anything to do with your Windows user directory. That sounds like your IT department made some change to your computer setup.

Note that you're at your Zotero Storage quota, so additional files haven't been uploading to Zotero servers (which Zotero would've been warning you about, though it's possible to miss). If your IT department created a new user directory for you without copying old data, Zotero would have pulled down the library from Zotero servers, and you'd only have your library data and the 300 MB that had been uploaded previously.

You'll probably want to talk to your IT department about this. They would know what happened to the Windows user directory and whether they did something that would've caused you to lose files. But if you're using the default stored files in Zotero, the path where Zotero is looking isn't the issue.
