Installing without admin privledges

IT admin here looking if it would be possible for end users to install Zotero without the need of local admin privileges.
  • On Windows? This isn't something we test regularly, but in theory if you cancel the admin prompt when you first install Zotero, it should do a local installation that you have permission to update as a local user.
  • The suggested solution also needs to be applied when installing updates.

@ceres.barros: What do you mean by that? If you cancel the admin prompt and do a local installation, you should be able to update without any further admin prompts — the point is that it creates files your OS user can write.
  • Just to add to this, as I use mine with a Windows 11 enterprise account without admin rights, as part of my organization. To install and update, I have to put my user account password (not admin) into the UAC window, otherwise, just clicking on No or Cancel stops the process completely on my end.
