"A word processor integration command is already running."

I follow all the steps to authorise Zotero Connector in Google Docs and the "Connector Authorization Complete" successfully displays. However, when I return to Google Docs and select an option from the Zotero Connector menu I receive a "A word processor integration command is already running" error. Alternatively, when closing the "Connector Authorization Complete" page, a "Google Docs authorization was cancelled" message is displayed. I have tried reinstalling and restarting Zotero, enabling full page access for the extension in Safari, and compressing and decompressing the application. I've repeated the process and logged the output.

    Restart Zotero and your browser, and open just one Google Docs tab. Make sure you authenticate with the Google User that has the permission to edit that document, if prompted with multiple user choices. Let us know if you still see the issue after that.
