Importing Applied and Environmental Microbiology journal articles fails

Hello,

I am unable to import articles from the Applied and Environmental Microbiology journal into my Zotero library correctly from my browser. They are created as web pages instead of regular scientific papers (for example, no authors, no journal title, no volume number...).

See for example this recent paper :

https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/aem.02513-25

Importing using the DOI into the desktop client (magic wand button) works as it should.

Is there something that I can do myself or does this have to be fixed in the software ?

Yours,
Maxime
  • Hello,

The paper that I mentioned is not yet referenced in Scopus but I tried with an older one, that is both referenced in AEM and Scopus.

    https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/105019816289 (requires subscription)

    https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/aem.01442-25

Importing from Scopus web page through the browser add-in works as it should (document saved as journal article with all required data) whereas from AEM it does the same as mentioned above (saved as web page).

  • On my setup, the page is slow to load because of some data transferred from Google Scholar. During this time, the Zotero translator is not loaded and the item will be saved as a webpage. Once the article page is fully loaded, the translator is also loaded (Atypoon Journals) and the item is successfully saved as a journal article. You will have to be sure the page is fully loaded before to save it via the Zotero translator.
  • Hi,

I had not really noticed how loooong it is for the page to be fully loaded on AEM site (for me, in the order of one hour !!!), because the interesting part appears quickly.

But I do confirm that trying again from the AEM page provided it has been open for long enough, indeed saves the article as such.

    Thank you !
