Original Date Field – Two or Multiple Dates?

Hello,

I am so excited about the Original Date field, but was curious if there was any syntax I need to use to indicate two publication dates in this field – for example, if the book being cited is really a collection of two books published in different years. Consider the following case:

Any guidance would be helpful – I've experimented with "and" "," ";" "/" and whenever the citation comes out it inevitably produces the following:

Descartes, René. Discourse on Method; and, Meditations on First Philosophy. Translated by Donald A. Cress. 1637. 4th ed. Hackett Publishing Company, 1998.

In which the first date of the two (1637) is listed.

Is this perhaps beyond the proper use of the app? Any guidance? Thank you!!
  • You'll need to use the extra field like so:
    original-date: "1649 and 1662"
  • Hi damnation, thank you! Is there any way to do this in the field "Original Date"? I loved the simplicity of just having that there – maybe I should use that field in all instances where there is only one date to include?

Also, to clarify, in the extra field I should include the quotation marks, yes?

    Thank you!
  • Gotta copy the whole line.
No, the normal field won't work.
  • Bummer about the normal field, but thank you for the clarification and guidance!!
