Chrome Extension Not Saving Web Snapshot:

Zotero 7 on macOS, Chrome connector, latest version. [Report ID: 1365688933]

Saving from any site creates the item but the snapshot/PDF attachment fails with "An error occurred while saving this item." Or, just saves the link to the article to Zotero with no additional notice. Tried to diagnose with reinstalling extension, checking access to connect Zotero with other apps, etc., still not working.

See Troubleshooting Issues with Zotero Translators. Provide more information.
  • Debug ID: D2103434264

Fails on all sites including Wikipedia. Item saves to the collection, attachment fails and sometimes says "An error occurred while saving this item," other times just saves the link to Zotero.

Already done: connector permission set to On All Sites; Reset Translators in both Zotero and connector; connector reinstalled; Check Database Integrity passed; data directory local and writable; local server reachable; full restart; storage 227/300 MB. Zotero 7, macOS, Chrome

That shows a successful save of a NYT article. What's the exact issue that was meant to show? Can you provide a screenshot that shows the problem?
  • The problem is that no snapshot is being saved - just the article metadata and a link.
  • Instead of a drop down menu that includes the snapshot, this is all that's being saved. And sometimes, I get the above error message.

What do you have selected in Zotero when you're trying to save?

Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero itself (rather than the Connector) for reloading the page and reproducing that error?
  • I am saving to a folder titled "Inbox," however, the problem also persists when I save it to the default "My Library."

This is my first time participating in the forum, my apologies for any missteps in submitting this bug.

Sorry, I missed that this was Zotero 7.

You're running a version of Zotero from December 2024. You should install the latest version from the download page and figure out why you haven't received automatic updates in almost two years.
  • Wow. I'm not sure why I haven't been receiving updates, I just assumed I had been. All seems to be resolved. Thank you.
