Why Zotero doesn't any longer attach open access papers?

Hey everybody! This is my first post. I 'm a researcher and after having to use Zotero for a long time I just opened it yesterday and performed the appropriate upgrade to Zotero 9. So I realized that while adding by identifier in the past would download, attach and open to read inside Zotero open access pdf papers, now it doesn' any longer makes the attachment. I 'm trying to use the "find full pdf" option but it cannot find open access paper. My only option is to download them manually and attach them myself. Does anyone knows why does that happens and how to fix it?
Thanks everyone anyway!
  • I'm seeing results that are much worse than what I'm pretty sure used to be the case that are all due to the upstream data source used (unpaywall) -- I tried a number of paywalled articles for which I have copies in SocArXiv or our institutional repo, in some cases also on NSF PAR and none of them are found on either https://unpaywall.org/products/simple-query-tool or https://openalex.org/

Where the article is published open access, such as 10.29173/iq1146, unpaywall has it as OA and it still gets added by Zotero as before.
  • I appreciate your help, but I think I have a little bit different problem here. The same open access paper that I could previously find, open and read in Zotero, now this same paper simply cannot find. I have to manually download it in order to link it and then to open it in Zotero.
This is the very same paper we are talking about!
Any ideas about why this is happening?
  • Can you list a few examples of identifiers you are trying to add in Zotero?

That's due to new anti-bot protections from MDPI. We're working on a fix. This isn't a general problem with OA retrieval.
  • Ok! Thanks a lot! I hope it's going to be solved!
