Database Integrity Issues

I recently did a routine integrity check and it said "Errors were found in your Zotero database. Zotero can attempt to correct these errors. Zotero will need to be restarted." The options on the message box are "cancel" or "Fix Errors and Restart Zotero" but nothing happens when I click to fix & restart. The app stays open and the database is still showing errors.

I looked at the documentation for troubleshooting but I'm lost. How do I figure out what the errors are? My directory appears to have all the files and they look like the right sizes.

Please help!
  • The database repair tool gives a 504 error when uploading.
  • My backups are all corrupted too so please let me know if the repair tool is fixed
  • What's the size of the sqlite?
  • All the sqlite files are 87.3 MB. My computer crashed overnight about a month ago and I think Zotero might have still been open. I only used it a few times since but it never showed any error messages until I ran the integrity check.

Can you provide a Debug ID for clicking "Check Database Integrity" in the Advanced pane of the settings and trying to repair the DB?
  • Debug ID is D1965196748

Ah, sorry, I forgot that repairing some databases errors in Zotero 9 is broken. We've already fixed that in the Zotero 10 beta.

Note that your database itself isn't corrupted — there's just some inconsistent Zotero data — so your library data isn't in any danger. Unless you're encountering some problem, I would just ignore this until Zotero 10 comes out within the next week or so. If you do want to fix it now, you could install the beta and fix it there and then switch back to the release version when Zotero 10 comes out.
  • Thank you so much! I am not tech savy so I really appreciate the help.
