NZBridge - Bidirectional sync between Zotero and Google NotebookLM

  • It is a wonderful project Dr Silva-Oliveira. I am very grateful. Do you think is possible to upload papers that have the same tags? Synchronizing tags also instead of collections?
  • Hi Rafael,

Your work is amazing, you definitely improved my academic workflow.

    Thanks a lot!!

  • Hello, @arimatea75, thank you for the feedback! That is a potential new feature that could be useful for many users, I will add it to the roadmap for later features :)

Thank you very much for the feedback as well, @cristobal_ov! Glad you have found it of use! Super happy to see that something I use myself on the daily is also being used by other users too :)

In case you missed it, I have released a new version yesterday, 0.4.0 (currently only available through loading unpacked on Github, may take 7-10 days to be updated on the edge extension store).

    Among some of the features:
    - Dark mode
    - Floating window
    - Tracking on files already uploaded
    - Persistent collection caching
    - Other QoL updates

Thanks again everyone for the feedback and for trying it out!
  • What do you think about uploading papers from the tags?
  • @arimatea75 Certainly a great feature, will add it to the roadmap for upcoming releases :)

Release a new 0.4.2 version with some small improvements on uploading files from zotero to notebookLM (re-tries) and add multi-select existing tags and/or create new tags when fetching NotebookLM notes to Zotero:

Hi Rafael. Works wonderfully. It's nice to make new tags on the on the go. Thanks again!
  • Awesome, glad it is working as planned!
  • Hi there, Rafael, I'm very grateful, will save us time for research
  • Thank you very much for your efforts. Will the browser-plugin be available on firefox anytime soon?
  • @SCAMY0528 Thank you very much for the feedback, glad it has been useful!

@Lion2292 Thank you for your interest, Lion! It is on the roadmap, but haven't picked up on it just yet; There are some online converters (chrome/edge extension to Firefox) that one could also try, but will have a look later this week or next week and start planning for a Firefox extension as well! This one will most likely be available through LinkedIn and not the Firefox add-ons marketplace, unless there is some interest from users to download it from the marketplace instead (as it demand less clicks to install, but also takes longer to update, often 7-10 days)
  • THis is great! Is there a way of pushing PDFs from NLM to zotero? I do a good amount of researching in NLM and it would be good if I could push some selected (or even all) PDFs (sources) found back to my zotero library.

Or is that direction limited to notes only?

    Thanks
  • Hello @thomasploetz! Thank you for your feedback and kind words

I can certainly add that feature for a next release! But to understand a bit better the context of your workflow, do you manually add pdfs as sources to NLM? Or those sources come automatically from NLM and these would be something that you would like to send back to Zotero? The key thing for me to figure out is if all metadata provided from NLM would suffice to fill in when sending back any PDF from NLM back to Zotero (currently that is done with the official zotero connector chrome/edge plugin). It may be that the PDF can be sent back to Zotero from NLM, but the metadata will be lacking (e.g. authors, formatted title, etc)
  • Hey,

Here is my workflow: Often I start exploring an area I start with a query in NLM, which then comes up with a decent list of sources -- many of them papers in PDF. Some of these (many actually) I would like to permanently add to my zotero library, for which this direction of sync would be helpful.

I don't think the lack of meta data would be much of an issue because the importer in zotero (standalone app) is typically doing a decent job retrieving those. So, I guess, "only" sending the PDFs would do if the meta data are an issue.

    Thanks again

  • Thanks for the swift reply Thomas, will have a look an implement on the next release! Thanks
  • A recent update on Notebook LM may cause some issues for some of you, so I will be shipping a new version today that fixes some of these introduced bugs!

New 0.4.3 version released that fixes the gemini notebook migration issues: https://github.com/Rafael-Silva-Oliveira/NZBridge/releases/tag/v0.4.3

P.S. Still need to implement the feature that uploads the PDFs from NotebookLM back to Zotero (as requested above by Thomas)
  • This is great so far! I used it today with no issues!
