Zotero Issue - Missing Materials

Hi,

My name is Taylor. I use the Zotero software application (my application recently updated to version 9.0.6) on a MacBook Air. I also have a Zotero web account (tbreddy@uwo.ca). Today, I noticed that several of my folders and sub-folders in my personal library are completely missing articles. Most sub-folders in the folder titled 'MSc Thesis - Exercise' do not have any contents. I consulted Zotero forums and troubleshooting pages and attempted to restore the folders using the following files in my Zotero data directory: zotero.sqlite, zotero.sqlite.bak, zotero.sqlite.bak1. However, these actions did not result in any changes. I linked Zotero with several different Microsoft Word documents on my Mac. These documents still contain the linked in-text citations, and a bibliography can be added into Word using these citations. However, if I click 'add/edit citation', a blank folder is shown. I am wondering if you have any suggestions or can provide any further information so that I can recover these articles? Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like any further details.
Thank you so much! I appreciate any help.

Do the items still exist in the library root? In the trash?

Unless you've already resolved this, almost nothing has ever been deleted in your online library.

Lots of items were modified about a month ago, so it's possible you did something at the time that caused to be removed from their collections (e.g., some confusion when using Show Items from Subcollections), leaving them in the library root.
However, if I click 'add/edit citation', a blank folder is shown.
Click the citation bubble and click Show in Library if you see the button. That will tell you whether the item is still somewhere in the library. Then check the Libraries and Collections section in the item pane to see which collections the item is in.
