Sync error

edited 12 days ago
For about one hour sync is not automatic anymore and doing it manually I am getting the following error message:
---
Insecure Connection
Zotero could not make a secure connection to zoterofilestorage.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com.

SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN
---

It sounds like a server problem to me but I am not sure. I never had this with Zotero before (using it for about five years now). Weird thing is that only me out of my fellow group library members is getting it (maybe cause I'm the owner). But sync is obviously not working for them either.

Glad for any help or suggestions!

No, that's a problem with your internet connection. (That's an Amazon cloud server and certainly has a correct certificate.) Something may be intercepting your connection, or it could be as simple as an incorrect clock or time-zone setting.

  • It seems like the problem (that's still to be identified) is on the computer of one of our assistants.

I found it weird though that - at least at first - no sync was happening at all anymore, and that I was getting the error message. It would make more sense to me that the error would be reported on the computer that was actually having problems and whose edits are not being synced.

Either way, now I'm not getting the error message anymore and the sync is generally working again, except for the edits of that person, of course.

Thanks either way, I hope we'll figure it out from here!

If you were getting this error, it was happening to you as well. Something like this would almost always be due to security software or network interception deployed at the institutional level.
