All references added in the past 10 days disappeared after restarting Zotero

After reopening Zotero, I discovered that all the references I had added during the past 10 days had completely disappeared. This is already the second time the same issue has occurred, and it has caused significant disruption to my research and reference-management workflow, as well as a serious risk of data loss.

What could have caused this problem? Why does Zotero repeatedly experience such a severe loss of reference records? Could this be related to database corruption, a synchronization failure, or an unexpected database rollback?

I sincerely hope the Zotero team can investigate this issue, provide a clear explanation, and advise me on how to recover the missing references. An issue of this severity directly undermines users’ confidence in the reliability and integrity of their Zotero libraries.
  • You don't appear to be using syncing with the account you're posting from, so can't comment on that.

There's no general issue that would cause this. Usually something like this would be due to either storing your data directory in a cloud storage folder, which you can't do, and corrupting your database, or deleting the database outside of Zotero (e.g., with a disk-cleaning tool) and then pulling down the last-synced changes from the server. See Locating Missing Zotero Data for the information we'd need to know to debug that.
