advanced search include subcollections

I have a collection called (creatively) "GIANT MIX" which I am trying to organise. It has a few subcollections.

Advanced search does not show these subcollections when using advanced search to search by collection.

Is there a way to use 'advanced search' to search a collection and all subcollections?

    I'm not sure what you mean here. What do you mean by "Advanced search does not show these subcollections"? If you're actually talking about item results, can you show example screenshots that demonstrate the problem?

    oh, actually, nevermind. I think I just literally, repeatedly, forgot to actually hit "search" before and saw empty results. I'm not quite sure why :(
