Sync fails with multiple “not a valid collection key” errors and “Made no progress during upload”

Hi,

I am unable to complete synchronization of My Library. The upload repeatedly stops, and syncing does not finish.

Error Report ID: 1048403232

The main error is:

Made no progress during upload -- stopping

Several collections return HTTP 400 errors stating that the collection key is invalid:

Error 400 for collection 6TVPO7PL in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: '6TVPO7PL' is not a valid collection key

Error 400 for collection 0T4OTE1F in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: '0T4OTE1F' is not a valid collection key

The same error also occurs for the following collection keys:

IHODVXEL
I0G4C1C3
EIS32JK1
WIJJG3P1
970GM6HN

In addition, several collections return HTTP 500 errors:

Error 500 for collection FLQYVKM6 in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: An error occurred

Error 500 for collection 6ZIDQ48V in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: An error occurred

Error 500 for collection VQE7BTLN in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: An error occurred

There is also the following warning in the log, although I am not sure whether it is related:

addons.xpi WARN Force scan SCOPE_APPLICATION
(app-builtin-addons location missing from XPIStates)

System information:

Zotero: 9.0.4, ARM64
macOS: 26.0.1
Locale: zh-CN

Installed extensions:

Zotero 插件市场 9.0.2
蒲公英 1.0.11
Translate for Zotero 2.4.5
Ethereal Style 6.0.8
Awesome GPT 3.1.8
Jasminum 1.1.37
Better Notes for Zotero 3.2.2

The problem occurs whenever I try to sync My Library. Repeated sync attempts produce the same errors, and the upload stops without making progress.

Could you please advise whether these errors indicate invalid or corrupted local collection records, and how I can repair the library without losing collections, items, or attachments?

Thank you.
  • You used some plugin or AI tool that created an item with an invalid key that can't sync. You'll need to 1) contact the tool developer and ask them to fix it and to fix your database, 2) identify the item and delete it (and empty the trash), or 3) delete your database and sync to pull down your online library. I'm afraid we can't help with this.
