Copy/Paste from different google docs breaks zotero connection

I am working between two seperate google docs, each are linked to zotero. I have copy/pasted from one to the other, which has caused all the citations in the pasted google doc to break. Even those that I did not copy/paste are broken. I have restarted Zotero and my browser, I have made a copy of the pasted, broken document which has not worked. I have made a new google doc to ensure that the zotero extension on my browser is still functional. As I have made significant edits to the pasted document, I am unwilling to simply work in the copied document. Please assist

    Copying between documents should generally work, although if you need a full copy of the document, it's better to use the copy document option in File.

    Once citations are unlinked, unless you have a version history of the document where they were linked, there's no way to restore them automatically in Google Docs. You will have to manually reinsert them.
