Reinstall / resync from Zotero server?

There is something very wrong with my local installation.

My library is huge, but it has essentially stopped automatically syncing -- even in Troubleshooting mode and after I disabled all plugins. In TS mode it will sync, but then stop, now it refuses to even update the display, it just shows a white screen and the "reading data" message, trying to update the advanced search for the unindexed files I made -- even though my cursor is on other collections.

I am not making headway with the unindexed files either. I have a whole conference with 400 papers that are in text -- I can select it, copy it to the abstract or a note and it is fine... It shows as "Indexed" but it appears in the search (attachment of type pdf where the content doesn't have a full stop. After opening it and copy and pasting the abstract and then reindexing, it sometimes disappears -- not always.

I am terrified that something will corrupt my data that I worked on so hard...

Can I simply uninstall it locally, delete the directory (or zip it and put it somewhere and reinstall from scratch, downloading my data from the server? I know it will take ages to sync...
Will I lose anything?
What are the risks?
Is there a better way?

“Reading data” isn’t something Zotero says, so I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup through a sync that shows a problem, using the Help → Debug Output Logging → "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option? Forget about full-text indexing for the moment.
  • At the moment sync keeps failing, whether in Troubleshooting mode or not.
    It generated Debug ID 1235990506.
    All my plugins are disabled.

That’s not a Debug ID. I asked for a specific thing above.

Also, you need to say in your subject line when you’re running the beta.
  • I pressed the "submit"
Opening the View Debug Info is non-responding
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u6228085/putad3rl8122dg8dm666.png

This makes Zotero non-responsive, and no matter how long I "wait for the application", it never returns.

You shouldn't open the window. Just restart with debug output logging enabled, let it start the sync, and submit.

What did you mean above by "Reading data"?
  • It was the "Loading items" message, apologies - I had been struggling for a few hours and was getting confused...
I will return to this effort after work...
  • It had been running for more than 5 hours (connected to internet) and I had been adding stuff via the web from my work PC.
At lunch, it was indicating "synced 5 hours ago"
I submitted the log with Debug ID D123255374
