Cannot sign into account on iPhone iOS 26.5

The Zotero app on my phone stopped syncing with my online account, and now prevents me from signing in to my account via my phone. I am using Zotero 9; I have deleted and reloaded the app multiple times on my phone; I changed my password in my account; I updated the password on my phone. The phone app will not budge beyond the sign-in page. No matter now many times I try to sign in (using my new password), I cannot move beyond the sign-in page. How can I resolve this? I rely on my phone for photos of archival documents that I then load to my Zotero files. Thanks.

What happens after you sign in through the app after you submit the username and password?

Are you directed to a different page? Does the page just close and go back to the app without logging in?
  • It just keeps returning to the same Login page each time (as if I never signed-in in the first place). There are no “error” notices (such as wrong username or password).

I have tried logging into my iPad which is also running iOS 26.5; same exact situation: the Zotero Login page just keeps reloading again and again with no error notices.

    Thanks for your help!

Can you log in at all using Safari on these devices?

Do you have it configured to block cookies? The only way I can replicate this is by blocking all cookies (but it may be possible to block the necessary cookie in another way as well).
  • I can log in using Firefox (my preferred web browser) on both my iPhone and my iPad.
I am not sure how cookies are either blocked or unblocked on the Zotero app; I typically block most cookies on my browser and various websites, but apparently can still log in successfully using Firefox.

Cookies are blocked in Safari (and web views that apps open including Zotero) in the Safari settings.

    Settings > Apps > Safari

Cookie settings there would be under "Privacy & Security" or "Advanced > Privacy"
  • That was successful!
As I never use Safari, I would have never associated Safari with the Zotero app, much less digging down several levels (Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced > Block All Cookies).
Thank you for your thorough detective work and support. Very much appreciated.
  • Thank you so much! It works!!
