Dissapearing pictures

I recently submitted a bug report with ID 23741192.
The issue I am experiencing is that when I paste an image or a screenshot, it disappears after a while. Everything that remains in the note is a blank frame that does not display any image in the note I created. If this cannot be restored, it looks like I may lose a significant amount of information that was saved with images.

    That's not a valid Report ID. (Copy and paste; don't retype.) But can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing this?

    I only get this report when I choose “Help” and “Report an issue,” so I’m not sure if this is the correct way to do it. I also haven’t had time to run any troubleshooting in the application for this issue.

    You don't need to copy and paste the report. We just need the id, which you mistyped the first time.

    In any case, now I'm asking for a Debug ID. Follow the link for instructions.

    You have to actually reproduce the problem. That's just debug output for Zotero startup. Please follow the linked instructions carefully.

    I’m not sure if I’m able to reproduce this as an error. I can see that when I paste an image or similar, it works, but later when I start Zotero, the images may be missing from the note.

    I've seen this from time to time too. I thought at one stage it might be associated with particular types of pasted image files, but don't think that is the case now.

    For me it seems to be mostly (always ?) associated with pasting an image into a note under an item in a Saved Search. I just pasted the same image into an item in a regular collection and in a Saved Search. The former worked, the latter didn't - just a black image placeholder is shown.

    If I right-click on the item in the Saved Search and select Show in Library and, once there, try to paste the image into the same note, it now works.

    @egild regarding possible loss of the non-visible note images, if you search in your OS for files named image.png under Zotero\storage, you will find all the note images that Zotero knows about.

    An image you find there in your OS will be in a folder with an 8-char folder name. If you put that 8-char name (only) into quick search for All Fields, it will show you the Zotero note to which it belongs. But in my case, if the note image is invisible, it seems that there will be no image under Zotero\storage and therefore no 8-char folder name to search for in Zotero.

    We'd still need to see a Debug ID for a supposed save for a file that was later missing.
