[Feature] Add Item by Identifier as Default UI

I use mostly PubMed and would prefer to have the UI start with: Add Item by Identifier

It is easy to retrieve a list of PMIDs (using varous tools), without browsing individually through the PubMed records. As I have the PMIDs, I would like to retrieve the data using those PMIDs directly.

Steps:
- Make "Add Item by Identifier" also as a static UI;
- Add option to start with the static "Add Item by Identifier";
- I did not yet test if it is possible to add multiple PMIDs at once;

Example of tool to retrieve/search on PubMed:
- see the R scripts in https://github.com/discoleo/R/tree/master/TextMining/Pubmed;
  • dstillman Zotero Team
    I'm not sure what you mean here. Add Item by Identifier is always available via a single click in the toolbar.

    You can add multiple PMIDs at once.

    # Note:
    - I misinterpreted the "Title" table header as a field to search for the title, when I installed Zotero yesterday; (this is another issue per se - partially resolved by the Zotero update yesterday)
    - But the issue remains otherwise valid: I will try to edit this comment to become more clear;

    1. Click: Add item by identfier
    - enter the PMIDs and hit ENTER;

    2. Zotero returns to the default UI ("Title" header);

    It would be nice if Zotero "remained" in the "Add item by identifier" UI. Currently, this is a dynamic UI, where the input box is displayed dynamically. If you leave Zotero, the entered identifiers are lost and the input field dissapears;

    Zotero could statically display the "PMID/ISSN/DOI"-field above the "Title" header (when the corresponding option is activated). This is handy when doing advanced searches of the literature and not just browsing 1 article at a time.

    I discovered in the meantime that Zotero can process a list of PMIDs; but I still need to enter into "ID mode" for each batch!

    Alternatively, the "Search" (after the update yesterday) and "Add item" interface could be implemented as separate tabs.
