Dealing with reference that don't fit in existing reference types

I am composing a document in which I need to cite a variety of types of legal documents and grey literature that don't fit well in the existing list of reference types in Zotero. Is there any sort of work-around that I can use?

Are there plans to either expand the reference types or allow users to create custom reference types?

Thanks.

    In general, the generic Document, or the Report type, will work well enough for grey literature (perhaps with one or more Extra fields) .
    Some new reference types have been introduced in recent Zotero versions, but it took significant time and effort for each of them. I don't think a generic custom item type is really feasible, but I could be wrong.

    Maybe you could give more details about your use cases? Then someone might be able to provide more specific advice.
  • My use cases include:
    * testimony in trials (i.e., lawsuits in court)
    * Submissions of expert testimony reports in lawsuits
    * Regulations (as opposed to statutes)
    * Government guidance documents

    Thanks!
