The sync for pdfs in group lab is too slow in China

Report ID: 1719552113

My storage is upgraded. Only the group lab was used for the sync of pdfs.
All the pdfs (about 3-5 M size) need 5 min or longer.

This would be a problem with your internet connection. It's just a connection to Amazon cloud storage in the U.S. With normal latency from China, a PDF wouldn't take 5 minutes.

But note that you're getting a WebDAV error too. Can you provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for reproducing the problem?
  • I used the WebDAV to sync the pdfs in my own library. It is very fast.
The sync on group lab always need long time. However, there will be rare times when syncing the PDF is very fast, completing within a few seconds.
Is it possible to add a zotero server to increase the file transfer rate in China?
  • In case you are using a proxy in your internet environment, please disable the proxy and try again. Usually it's possible to directly connect to Zotero's sync service from China. Proxies can slow down the connection.

This could also be caused by your local internet service provider. If you have access to the China Internet backbone network (e.g. via some edu network), you usually have a much faster connection speed. You may want to switch to e.g., a mobile hotspot to see if it gets improved.
  • The connection within China is limited, even if I use the education network.

Now that I use a proxy, the transfer speed is much faster.

This is very unfriendly to Chinese users, and we hope it will improve in the future.

To clarify, there's no guarantee on which network can give you a better connection speed - what I replied above was just an example. It depends on your local ISP and infrastructure, as I said.

As far as I know, at least in many other regions of China with the major ISP / institutional network, the connection speed is fine.
