a word processor integration command is already running

Hello,

Up until today, Zotero was working fine in Google Docs, but when I tried to add/edit a citation, it tried to update the file, and the failed update pop-up appeared. I then updated and reinstalled Zotero. Now I keep getting the pop-up 'a word processor integration command is already running'. I am very stressed because this essay is due soon, and I want my citations to be consistent and generated in Zotero.

Any suggestions?

    Restart Zotero and your browser.
  • Same thing started with me. I wonder if it has to do with the upgrade to 9?
  • I've followed the trouble shooting on this: turned off all extensions except Zotero. Restarted Zotrer, restarted Chrome, restarted Zotero and Chrome, ensured Chrome is up-to-date, restarted computer and then done all of the above again. Tried "document preferences" on an empty Google doc. No joy on any.
  • No, nothing to do with Zotero 9. We'd need a Debug ID for reloading Google Docs and trying to cite to say more.
  • I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with citations I changed in Google Docs, eg (Vellinga et al.,2022) into Vellinga et al. (2022)
Zotero asks me if I want to keep it that way, and before I would just click on yes, and Zotero would continue updating the rest. Now everything freezes.

  • @vallentgoed: We're looking into that, but note that you should almost never edit citations manually, and certainly not for narrative citations. Customize the citation properly and use Omit Author. See "Narrative Citations with Omit Author” there.
