Word plugin not working after update to Zotero 9.0.4 on Mac

After automatic update to Zotero 9.0.4 the Word plugin stopped working.
The Zotero tab appears in Word but clicking Add Citation does nothing
(spinning wheel briefly appears then stops).

System info:
- Zotero 9.0.4 (ARM64)
- Word 16 for Mac
- macOS 15.6.1

Error from Report ID 1780225321070:
NS_ERROR_SOCKET_ADDRESS_IN_USE in zoteroLibreOfficeIntegration.mjs

Already tried: reinstalling plugin, restarting both apps, restarting Mac,
fresh document. Ports 23116, 23117 and 2719 are not in use.

    We need the actual Report ID it gives you after you submit the report.

    The important part is to actually delete Zotero.dotm and confirm that Zotero is gone completely from Word.

    This is the actual Report ID: 858681256

    I have deleted the Zotero.dotm, Zotero was completely gone from Word. Then i installed the Plug-In again and restarted Word, with the same problem happening.

    It may not help, but you should update to at least the latest version of Sequoia. You're on an older version.

    I would prefer not to update the entire OS just for this, especially when it might not help in the end. Is there any other fix or could this be a bug in Zotero 9.0.4 that could be fixed in a future update? Is there any way to downgrade back to Zotero 7 which worked fine for me?

    I mean, you're running an outdated version of Sequoia. There's no reason to be doing that — if nothing else, you're missing security updates and bug fixes from Apple. And we won't help further here as long as that's the case.

    Which Sequoia would you recommend if I update? macOS Tahoe 26.5 or macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 ?

    Sequoia means Sequoia — your major version of macOS. The current version is 15.7.7, released a few weeks ago. You're on 15.6.1 from last year.
