Google Docs Linked Citations Issue

Trying to add citations to a Google Doc. It was working before but now I cannot update existing linked citations and another citation is appearing as unlinked. I cannot also add any extra new citations with the same generic error message: "Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?"

Zotero connector returned the following error message (submitted, Debug ID is D1573312413):

Main Zotero app had a massive debug output log that seemed to copy and paste the entire Google Doc text with in-text citations spelled out in reference metadata form plus lots of different error messages that spanned many pages.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Update to the current version of the Zotero Connector and reload Google Docs.
  • I had already done both of these before posting my question, but thanks for the suggestion. Any help would be appreciated.

Your Debug ID is showing you are running 5.0.203. The current version is 5.0.208.
  • In that case there may be an error in releasing the update as Zotero is fully up-to-date according to my application. I can't find where to check the version in-app either.

I am experiencing the same issue in Google Docs after having attempted to find a new version to update to
  • This is Zotero. You want to check the browser connector in your browser
  • Because there was no way to separately update the browser connector with the Zotero app fully updated, I had to uninstall and reinstall the Chrome connector. But now it's working, thanks

(You can update a Chrome extension from Chrome’s Extensions pane if it hasn’t automatically updated. Nothing to do with the Zotero app.)
