Possible bug/regression report: Search unusable on macOS Zotero 9.0.3 with large library

Hi there,
Long time user, I think first time poster. Using Zotero 9.0.3 on macOS 26.3.1

I have a large Zotero library with ~20,000 items.

I am on the "My Library" view, that shows all items, sorted from newest added to oldest added.

I am putting in a known author last name in the search field.

I am going on 10 minutes with the "searching" icon being shown, but no change to the view has occured. I'll let this go over the course of the day while I'm at work to see if it ever gets to a changed state.

In the past, search has been slow, but usable. Now, the performance seems to have gone over the cliff into essentially unworkable.

I'm wondering if there were any relevant changes to the sqlite indexing / performance tuning in Zotero v9 , and if my admittedly large library exposed the performance regression.

I'd like to not split my library into muliple separate libraries, although I agree that is an obvious solution.

Best,
-Tim

Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup through reproducing this, using the Help → Debug Output Logging → "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option?
  • Debug ID here: D663068829

And after restarting in the Logging Enabled / Troubleshooting mode, search completed almost instantly, so I strongly suspect one of my extensions/plugins... If it's obvious based on your review, would love to know.

If it works in Troubleshooting Mode, you'll need to identify the plugin that's causing it and then report the problem to the plugin's developer.
