error message: An error occurred saving with newspapers.com. Attempting to save using Embedded Metad

I've followed the directions to update the translators, loaded the page I'm trying to cite, and got the same message. Any suggestions?

  • Here is the information requested in step 14.

    The Debug ID is D1082887434.

An error occurred saving with newspapers.com. Attempting to save using Embedded Metadata instead.

OK, when I hover on the Save to Zotero button I see a Save to Zotero (embedded metadata) option on the menu. Clicking on that seems to do the trick. Have I solved the issue? Is there any way to make that option for saving the default?
Any advice on making this work smoothly for me is welcome.
    Many thanks

  • I have a related problem: citations saved from Newspapers.com are entered as "web page" not "newspaper articles". I know how to fix this manually, but is there not a better way to fix this?
  • Well, that's just the same problem, not a related one! The Newspapers.com translator wasn't handling that page correctly, so it was falling back to Embedded Metadata, which produces poor results on that site.

Fixed now. Your Zotero Connector should auto-update within a few minutes, or you can update translators manually from the Advanced pane of the Zotero settings.
