Issues in Zotero startup, Windows 11

I'm having constant issues with Zotero not starting up.

When I'm attempting to start Zotero, it just gets stuck in a white screen and becomes 'not responding' if you try to click on the window. Issue persisted with the latest 9.0.3 release and couple earlier 9.x.x versions (and uninstalling/reinstalling also didn't help). Running as administrator did nothing either.

Only solution so far has been to restart the computer every time I want to open Zotero.

  • Don't run as administrator — that can cause more problems and isn't a troubleshooting step you should ever use.

    Try holding Shift at startup to start in Troubleshooting Mode.
  • Holding shift did lead to zotero starting up. I confirmed beforehand that it didn't start up normally.

    Now what?
