Android: Annotations disappearing and reappearing

[Split from iOS: Annotations not being saved by Zotero]

I have the same issue on Android for a few days now.

However, I do not have it synced to my desktop, I only use the app for annotations. It used to only affect underlines, that were just randomly gone, while the app was still open.
Today, all my annotations from yesterday were gone. They appeared again, when I touched the display, but only for a second.

I made them appear again alltogether, by clicking on each annotation in the annotations list. This is really annoying, please fix it on android too!

(Please start new threads for new issues — the thread you posted to isn't at all related. I've moved this to a new thread.)

    What device is this?

Are you seeing this for all PDFs, or only some?

What version of the app do you have?
  • I’m having the exact same issue on the Xiaomi Pad 8 running Xiaomi HyperOS 3. The app version is 1.00-240, downloaded from Google Play.

This is my first time using Zotero. I added annotations such as text highlights and underlines to a PDF file. After making the edits, I didn’t see any save option, so I backed out to the previous page. When I reopened the file later, some of my annotations had disappeared randomly, and I couldn’t find any way to recover them.

This PDF already has around 200 highlights made in another app. I’m not sure if that’s causing the problem.

Overall, Zotero works really well in most aspects, and I sincerely hope this bug can be fixed.
