Problems with Zotero 9.0.2
I started Zotero this morning, and it updated to version 9.0.2, and I have problems.
I am running Zotero on an Intel MacBook Pro with MacOS Ventura 13.7.8.
The problems I experience are:
1) All my records no longer have a Citation Key. With the previous Zotero version, the Info field started with the Citation Key; now it starts with Item Type.
2) When I make additions or modifications, Zotero no longer updates my export to the Better CSL JSON file. I have tried to create a new export, but it fails with an error message and creates a new JSON file containing zero bytes. The error message reads:
"Error: An error occurred while trying to export the selected file."
Does anybody know how to fix these problems?

ridvanbiniciIt might be that your BBT plugin is not up to date and not working properly with the new version. See if updating plugins and then restarting the program fixes your issue.
-
FrodeWThat was spot on! Thank you very much! I had version 7.0.76 of BBT and it had been disabled by Zotero. After the BBT update, it shows version 9.0.23, and everything works again.
-
ridvanbiniciFor further updates, this issue would persist. Zotero now requires a maximum compatible version information from plugins in order for them to work and if the plugin's developer doesn't update this information to match with the new version, the plugin won't work in current version.

dstillman Zotero Teamedited 9 days agoThere's no reason it should persist. BBT should be updated before each major version. There was a problem with some recent versions of BBT that prevented them from being updated, so we had to force-disable old versions.
-
ridvanbiniciI meant that changes introduced would cause BTT or other plugins to get disabled after a major update.
-
dstillman Zotero TeamAnd I'm saying that's not correct — this was a special case where a bug in BBT prevented it from being updated properly. BBT is already compatible with Z9, and the BBT developer will almost certainly update BBT before all major versions going forward.
