Cannot create bibliography in Chicago Manual of Style

Report ID: 53362998

I am editing a paper that I initially submitted to a journal that uses APA style, but the paper was rejected. I want to submit to a different journal that uses the Chicago Manual of Style. However, when I tried to create a bibliography using my Zotero reference list in Chicago style instead of APA, I got an error message that reads "An error occurred generating your bibliography. Please try again." APA still works fine.

Here are the steps I take. Right-click the subfolder with the reference list > click "create bibliography from collection" > select "Chicago Manual of Style 18th edition (author-date)" > select "bibliography" in "Output Mode" and "Copy to Clipboard" in "Output Method" > click OK > error message

Is there something I can do to fix this? Or another way to get an existing Zotero reference list changed to Chicago Style so I can move it to my document?

Thank you in advance!

You're running a version of Zotero from November 2020. You should install the latest version from the download page and figure out why you haven't received automatic updates in over 5 years.
  • I'm using Zotero through my university's subscription, so I suppose they haven't updated it. Is there no other way I can sort this on this version?
  • Do you not have a private laptop you use?
Just install Zotero, sync your account and you should be ready to go.

Note that your account isn't associated with any institutional subscription, and that would only apply to Zotero Storage anyway. Zotero is free software that anyone can download from this website.
  • Thanks everyone, updating to the new version resolved the issue
