How to link reading notes from different documents?

Hi, is it possible to link reading notes from different documents, for example in the form of a tree structure? Currently, I use an Excel file to organize my reading notes by topic, which isn't very user-friendly. But maybe Zotero isn't the best tool for that.

This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but you can convert the notes to standalone notes, then set the readings as related items. To arrange them by topic you can add tags to the notes and readings as well.
