Can Zotero add abstracts to library?

Hi, I have a list of citations that were added to Zotero. Is there a way to add the citations without copying and pasting them in manually? I have access to some of the PDFs as well.
  • If you mean that you have a Word document with live citations, you can extract them with this tool: https://rintze.zelle.me/ref-extractor/

Getting the abstracts then is another step. But I'm not 100% sure what you're asking.
  • Thanks for your help! Essentially, I have a list of citations and I was able to parse them out and upload them into Zotero. For a research effort, I need to review the abstracts of said citations and was wondering if Zotero has any capacity to search, find, and upload those into my Library for me? I also have the PDFs, so I'm wondering if I uploaded them, would Zotero attach them to the corresponding citation and pull in the abstract? Thanks again - new user here.
  • In your case, the best way to get started is to add the PDFs first and then use the Retrieve Metadata function on them (select all, right click, and choose Retrieve Metadata). That will attach the PDFs to reference items, and will get abstracts for most publishers
