SBLH2 Series in italics when combined with multiple volumes

I'm linking to an old forum related to this question: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/71221/style-error-for-sbl-handbook-of-style-2nd-ed-series-should-output-in-roman/p1

When a bibliography includes entries in the Series, Series Number, AND # of Volumes, the Series title comes out consistently in italics. For reference, my bibliography looks like this:

FYI, Extra has both collection-title-short: TECC | issued: "1989–1992". The output is as follows:

How do I get it to come out like this?

Many thanks! @adamsmith, @dstark, @matt.quintana
  • @frigidilius Yes, this is another one of the several problems with the current handling of multivolume works in the SBL Style CSL. The planned revisions to the CSL that I mentioned in our other discussion will resolve this. In the meantime, a work around is to use the HTML italics codes around the collection-title text. So, in your Extra field, use: collection-title-short: TECC. Telling it to use italics will effectively negate the (wrongly applied) italics, thus achieving the right output.

The problem, though, is that with the revisions I'm planning to the CSL, this work around would achieve the opposite result since it would cause italics to be applied to text that is no longer being wrongly italicized. So, if you're able to wait a bit, then it is probably best to just hold off until this better solution is available—which would also save you the hassle of going through your library and adding the HTML codes to all relevant items.
