The firefox extension does not ask where to save for a pdf

When I click the Firefox "save to zotero" extension for a .pdf file, Zotero does not ask me where to save the reference, it just dumps it in the main library folder.

From this previous discussion: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/97967/firefox-extension-does-not-ask-where-to-save

It was justified as 'We're not able to show the proper save popup in Firefox when viewing a PDF', but I guess that is not true anymore? as I can see the popup box for non-pdf links.

For example if adding the following with the Zotero extension, it goes direct to my main library: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2602.03667

Yet if I save the non-pdf version: https://arxiv.org/abs/2602.03667

It gives me the popup box and lets me pick the directory to save it. That would fix my problem, except it does not actually save the paper, it saves the webpage instead...

Am I missing something?
  • Items from the web browser are saved in the selected collection in Zotero.

This is still the case. We're unable to show the popup specifically for PDF pages, not normal webpages.

Make sure in Zotero Settings -> General -> File Handling "Automatically attach associated PDFs" is checked. If that doesn't help, see Troubleshooting Issues with Zotero Translators.
