Video Game Citation for MLA

This is not necessarily a new topic, but I can't seem to find a proper solution. I need to cite a video game in MLA style. So far I'm using the "Software" type with the following inputs:

Title: Hades
Version: 1.38290
Date: 2020
System: Microsoft Windows game
Company: Supergiant Games

This gets me the following output:
Supergiant Games. Hades (italicized). Version 1.38290, 2020. Microsoft Windows game.

However, that is not the correct citation in MLA for video games. The entry should always start with the game title, not the developer/publisher. This is what it should look like:
Hades (italicized). Version 1.38290, Supergiant Games, 2020. Microsoft Windows game.

I don't know how to circumvent the developer being placed at the front (and obviously also then showing up in my in-text citation instead of the italicized game title). The only solution I have so far been able to come up with is to put "Hades" as the last name of the programmer and then manually deleting it from the bibliography and italicizing it in the in-text citations (an increadible nuisance). I know there is a way to edit citation styles, but I feel wholly unqualified to do so. I'm honestly surprised no one else seems to have had this problem in the last 5 years, so maybe I'm missing something. Any help?
  • Thank you for reporting this. There is an example of the developer appearing in the author position in the current print edition of the MLA Handbook, but that must have been an error, since it has been removed in the digital version. I've now adjusted the styles to remove this behaviour.
