bibliography entry for manually created record will not load

I'm using Turabian 9th edition (notes and bibliography). I manually created a record for a presentation. The footnote exports just fine to a Word doc, but the bibliography entry does not. I tried to create a standalone bib that included the presentation record and that doesn't work either. When I try to paste into Word nothing happens.
I have reinstalled the MS Word add-in, restarted the computer. Zotero and MS are up to date.
Any suggestions?
  • Unpublished presentations usually do not appear in the bibliography; see the Chicago Manual of Style, sect. 14.115:
To cite a paper or poster presented at a meeting, add information about sponsorship, location (if applicable), and date of the meeting following the title. Such citations are normally limited to the text or a note.
Adding a means of access for the presentation such as a URL or archival location will cause it to appear in the bibliography, such as the example in Turabian, sect. 17.7.2.
  • I am using the presentation template for a lecture since there is no option for lecture in the New Item drop down. I am directly quoting. I guess I'll have to add it manually to the bibliography.
  • Presentation is the correct item type.
But as mentioned above, add a URL or archive location to your item and it'll appear.
  • But as dunning says -- if this is a lecture that's not recorded, even if you're directly quoting, it should not be listed in a Chicago Style bibliography, just in the footnote. If it's a recorded lecture (so Chicago 14.164), add the bibliography or the archive in the metadata.
  • I've just checked the 17th edition (which is the basis of Turabian 9th); it looks as if this rule is new in the 18th edition, but they didn't document it as such in the What's New list. I've added a fix here:
