Bound periodical sources

What type could my student use when citing from a bound periodical? Because the page numbers are successive for the entire year (but would not have been in the original), she would like to cite from the bound volume, especially since that is how she accessed it online. "Magazine article" refers to a single article whereas this is an entire volume for the year. She'd rather not have to cite each article individually as that would be several dozens.
  • To cite an entire journal you can override the item type by inputting this into extra:
    type: periodical
  • Thanks for this; I really do appreciate your help, but I don't see that the extra field is included in the citation. In fact, when I try to insert the citation for her, I only see the name of the periodical, the year, and the URL. [this is with both CMOS 18th and CMOS 17th]. How can I get the complete citation? I used to use 17th, subsequent short title and that worked fine but it seems to be gone.
  • How do you want the citation to look like? Then it's easier for us to help.
(What I given you for the extra field changes the type. Nothing would be output, but the citation style sees the item differently)
  • Here's what it looks like now (I added a page number--that's the 14):
    Confederate Veteran, October 1899, 14.

Here's what I expected (or something like it):
    Confederate Veteran, 3, no.10, (October 1899): 14.

Is there some other type that I should use that would approximate this?
    Many thanks!
