iOS Beta: in snapshots, I cannot scroll with finger when in highlight mode, and lack of undo

edited yesterday at 10:52am
Running iOS Beta, version 2.0.0. build 397, using snapshots. I understand these are well know, but reporting just in case (or in case I am doing something silly to be told of better ways):

1. If highlight (or underline) is active, I cannot use the finger to scroll (I do have "Only Draw with Apple Pencil" in the iOS settings). The procedure "Currently you'll just have to tap the screen with pen after you enable highlighting or inking. That way the pencil is detected and fingers will only scroll." (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/396791/#Comment_396791) does not seem to work. Neither does "When in highlight mode, you can do a two-finger scroll outside of the page borders, on the gray background. " (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/390790/#Comment_390790) since I have no gray background surrounding the border.

2. There is no undo button.

For me, 1. and 2. compound each other, since I keep highlighting when I want to scroll and the fastest solution is to use the pen, touch the incorrectly highlighted region, and "Delete annotation" ---the other, slower way to undo, is to open the sidebar, and delete the annotation from there. Is there a faster way?

Edit: I've fixed the original discussion title and text. My original version was missing that my comment is restricted to snapshots. In particular, these features work just fine with PDFs.
  • Hey @rdiaz02, I tried with the latest beta (2.0.0-398) in both iOS 18 and iOS 26 devices, with "Only Draw with Apple Pencil" enabled, and I cannot fully reproduce your case.

When I enable an annotation tool in the toolbar, I can tap with the pencil and then fingers do scroll. Two finger in a non-page gray background also do work, however small this area is, although I understand that with certain rotation, document and zoom, there may not be any available. Can you mention which device and iOS version you use?

Regarding the undo button, there are always undo/redo buttons in the annotation toolbar. If you don't see one, can you send a screenshot or screen recording of what you actually witness?

Hi @mvasilak: I now realize that my original post was missing the crucial piece of info that this refers to snapshots (i.e., it is not about pdfs).

I am really sorry for my oversight!!! (In my brain it was obvious, since I had been playing with snapshots for a while).

I've edited the original post to make this clear.
