How to spellcheck comments typed in notes?

Hello

When I add a comment to a note, red wiggly lines underline misspellings.

However, right- or left-clicking on the error only shows copy/paste/etc. options, not alternative correct spellings (usual behaviour in text software).

Also, can the language / dictionary of that spellchecker be changed and where?

(Config: Zotero 7.0.24 on MacOS Sequoia 15.5)

Thanks a lot
  • In Zotero 8 beta, the spell checker context menu options are now visible. The same menu also lets you add or remove languages. In Zotero 7.0.24, this can be done from the note item editor's context menu.
  • Thanks! Can you please unpack "the note item editor's context menu"?
  • Open a standalone or child note and right-click in the text editor.

Since it is now possible to insert direct text notes in the pdf, the spell check will also be displayed in these notes in the pdf

however, you still have to navigate to the context menu on the left to add a word to the dictionary.
first, it would be great if a right click within the note had the option to add the word to the dictionary.
second, and more importantly, there is a bug: if you add the word in the context menu to the dictionary, the red lines in the pdf remain present. they only vanish once one double clicks the note in the pdf again, or reopens the pdf
