Hi at the moment i currently do a sync back up on the cloud with Zotero but i also do a manual copy and paste of the data directory as i want to avoid losing my attachments. As i have found when resyncing by Zotero on a laptop before i lost some of my PDF files that were greyed out. Is there a more easier and efficient way to do this to ensure i do not lose my files.

If not, and you are using 'stored' PDFs that are synced to Zotero servers, you should never lose PDFs on another device... unless you exceeded your online file storage quota (300 mb free); in that case files exceeding that limit would never have been uploaded from the device where they were originally stored.
