And after that you should try just restarting Zotero. If that doesn't help, restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins.
Restart of Zotero desktop resolved the behavior. I assume a plugin or something got confused.
