Z on iPad not updating

Hi Z-team - I'm having a syncing problem again, similar to one experienced before. This time, however, all versions of Z seem to be up to date.

When I sync Zotero, it is not syncing with my iPad.
My iPad is running the latest beta version.

The debug id above is from my latest sync on my computer.

D312239086

This debug id is from my iPad, attempt to sync with Z after the above main computer sync event.
  • What's the problem, exactly?

If this is about library data, see Changes Not Syncing.

If it's about files, see Files Not Syncing.
  • Files that I add to Z, which appear on my computer, are not appearing in the Z iPad app. The system is set up with a webdav server which is correctly verified. Yet new files added to the main library are not showing on the iPad, and are not available to download (as they previously had been).

This feels like a similar incident to here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/120215/ipad-z-not-loading-new-docs-sync-error-msg#latest

although I'm not getting any error messages this time around.
  • But what do you mean by "files […] are not appearing"? Can you provide a screenshot showing the problem?
  • Items added to Z, which appear in the web library and on my main computer, are not being synced to the iPad app.

  • The first pic shows the iPad. The second the web library. You can see that the most recent items, 8 or 9, have not - and apparently simply will not, sync to the iPad app from the main library.

OK, so this is about items, not files, so the first link applies:
If you're still having trouble, post to the Zotero Forums […] with a Debug ID for the first sync after making a change that doesn't sync (e.g., making a change to an item in the online library that doesn't appear in Zotero, or vice versa), along with a description of what's not transferring, including the zotero.org URL after selecting the item in the online library if it appears there. Start debug output logging before making the change and keep it going until the sync has ended.
  • Yes, it is the first link. But we are already at point 6. Hence the inclusion of the two debug tickets!!

But you haven't provided what it asks for — that's why I quoted it. It asks for very specific information and a Debug ID for a very specific sync.
  • Reading this closely I will need to add a new item and try to sync and then send you new debug IDs. Should these be from the computer or the iPad or both? In any event I will do it tomorrow, as it is now extremely late here and sleep calls….
  • Thanks for your help so far!
  • It doesn't need to be a new item. It needs to be exactly what it asks for in the section I quoted above.
  • “ first sync after making a change that doesn't sync”

The change in question being the adding of new items, which don’t sync.
  • The first thing to try would just be making any data change to one of the items in the online library that you don't see locally.

But if you can actually reproduce a new item not being synced, then yes, we'd want to see a Debug ID for that. It has to show the first sync from the iPad after the item was created, which is why you have to start logging before making the change elsewhere.
  • Was preparing myself to do as you suggest, and noticed the "Start full sync debugging" option under Advanced. I tried this (after looking up what it is supposed to do), and it does indeed seem to have forced a full sync, and done so without the omissions which were noted above. The report is here: iOS Debug Log: D1152340017
  • I have subsequently been able to add a new item and have it sync properly.
    D803620917

So it seems like the problem is solved by forcing a new full sync from the Advanced options.

Thanks again for your time and assistance!
