Embedding annotations in EPUB file itself

  • @vojtech.kase: Sorry, I wasn’t aware that there was an earlier metadata format. Please send a metadata.epub.lua file created with an older version of KOReader to support@zotero.org and include a link to this thread.
  • Much thanks for adding this.

    - Could it be updated to automatically offer to import annotations if a valid metadata folder (same name as the file) is found?

    - What about two way sync, so as to also update the koreader/calibre metadata when annotations are edited in Zotero?

It should already be doing that. You'll need to be using linked files. We'll look into supporting auto-import from Calibre with stored files (as long as you have the same EPUB in both Calibre and Zotero).

Ah, understood, only working with 'linked files' now. I was using 'Stored Files'.

However, I was wondering if it would be possible to avoid opening epub file and going to 'File->Import Ebook Annotations' to import them. So upon adding the epub to the library Zotero could import annotations at the same time if they were found in the same directory as the epub.
  • I just heard about the support of EPUB annotations from KOReader and Calibre—Christmas has come early! Thank you so much all who contributed!
  • Thank you for the integration of KOReader epub annotations and zotero, this is truly amazing ! It works smoothly when importing yellow annotations.

Yet for some reason others colors in KOReader are rendered in yellow in Zotero when using the "import annotations features".

    I have checked the metadata.epub.lua file : https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u5119533/v0xuop73mg6itiqr4yv7.png

Red annotations appear alongside yellow one.

Yet in the epub view in Zotero this same red annotation ("maquis islamistes") is rendered in yellow :

Was this a desired feature ? Would there be a workaround ?
  • @raphporcherot: Not intentional - thanks. We'll have a fix in the next beta.
