Any tips on downgrading from Zotero 7 to Zotero 6?

After several days testing Z7, I realize I just much prefer the UI and other aspects of Z6 and would like to revert. I should never have upgraded without studying carefully all the changes that Z7 would include, so that's obviously my fault, and will someday try Z7 again when I'm not overdue on a deadline for a book. I will obviously first back up all my library / database files / etc, but then just curious if there are any additional tips for switching back to Zotero 6 after downloading it? I'm on a Mac. Thanks for any advice.
  • At some point, Zotero 6 will break and will become unsafe to use. It already fails at some functionality only Zotero 7 can do (like displaying Elsevier Captcha pages for downloading some research articles).

But you can do it. I believe the databases are compatible, so simply downloading the old one and installing over the existing should work.

Installing/uninstalling Zotero does not touch your data (which is located elsewhere on your computer).

Zotero 6 can be downloaded on the main download page: https://www.zotero.org/download/ Click the arrow for "Other versions".
  • Zotero 7 has a great interface, but Zotfile is not working anymore. I would also like to revert to Zotero 6.
  • @seredes -- there are replacements for most ZotFile functionality, see https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/470244/#Comment_470244
  • @enozkan You said, "At some point, Zotero 6..." Z7 has already broken on LibreOffice. So I am ready to downgrade to Z6 and then probably buy MS Office or use Mendelay.

@Juandev Zotero 7 obviously works fine on LibreOffice for nearly everyone, including me. Please ask in the thread you had started why it is not working for you, first by providing specifics. You have not stated your OS (linux/mac/windows), versions of Zotero/LibreOffice, or anything that may help the devs and volunteers help you.
