Can’t add new citations

Hello all, I was working on a document for a while now and I have a lot of references. Zotero suggested I turned off automatic updates which I did and all was fine. Recently I tried adding new citations but it doesn’t work anymore. I opened a new page on word and everything works perfectly. What could be the issue please

    You don't say what's actually happening. If this is a large document, it's possible you're just not waiting long enough.
