What happened to Jungledisk

Hi all,

I've been using Zotero with my Jungledisk account but all of a sudden it will not sync anymore. When I verify the server it says that https://www.myjungledisk.com/MYNAME doesn't exist. I went to that URL and it indeed gave an error. Next, I went to www.myjungledisk.com and was able to login and see my files without any problem.

So does this mean that we need to link to https://www.myjungledisk.com? If I do Zotero asks me if I want to make a folder there which doesn't seem a good idea because I want to connect to my existing folder obviously.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.
  • +1 on this. we've been happily using jungledisk for many months and today it bit the dust for all three syncing machines with the same error message. manually checking the zotero folder online confirms its continued existence (1 mac and 2 windows, all running beta 7.4.

  • If you can verify the server from Sync pane of the Zotero preferences, it should work.

If not, then something changed on their end, and you'd have to figure out what and, if possible, adjust your WebDAV settings accordingly.

Verification from the Sync pane fails, and it appears that they've just had a major product upgrade, so I'll check with jungledisk CS.
  • Me too.

(Sorry for starting an alternate thread on the 2.0 forum! Thanks to Dan for pointing me to this one.)

I've contacted JD as well. If I find out anything, I'll let y'all know.

    Best,
    Lisa
  • I've just got email back from JD support. Apparently they've just updated the Web access interface, which is what has caused such havoc with Zotero.

Anyways, they are aware of the problem and are reportedly working on it.

    Hope its fixed soon!

    Best,
    Lisa

same here. here's the message from, uh, jungle travis:
JungleTravis, Nov 19 12:18 am (EST):
    Andy -

We recently updated our web access interface which broke the Zotero link.

We are investigating how to proceed.

I will update you when we have more information.

    Thanks,
    JungleTrav
  • I have just received word that one can access the old system via:

    https://legacy.myjungledisk.com

I have just checked, and zotero works fine with this!

    Regards, Mark
  • Another report from the JungleDisk team:

WebDAV has been disabled with the new interface.

They have suggested to setup Zotero to pull from your local WebDav server. Ensure that you have Jungle Disk running on your machine, then go to the Zotero Settings...
    http://localhost:2667/<youronlinedisk>/

I've just tried verifying my file storage with the https://legacy.myjungledisk.com as suggested above and its working!

    Hooray.
  • I must be doing something wrong--when I click on the legacy URL, I get a login popup box that doesn't accept my normal jungledisk username and password--can someone who's successfully gotten this legacy thing working give a slightly more detailed description?

    thanks.
  • I just put "legacy.myjungledisk.com/default" (I had to add "/default") into the URL field in the sync pane of the Zotero preferences and it worked. I'm not sure what the http://localhost:2667/<youronlinedisk>/ thing is about.

    amacom73,

Clicking on the Legacy URL brought up the login pop-up box as you described, but my JungleDisk username and password worked.

I don't know if the http://localhost:2667/<youronlinedisk>; would work or not. That's just what the JD folks suggested.

    Best,
    Lisa
  • I also had the same problem. I changed my old
    https://www.myjungledisk.com/MYNAME
    to read
    https://legacy.myjungledisk.com/MYNAME
It seems to work but I don't know for how long.

The recommended fix from jungle disk is to setup a local disk and sync to that. I don't like it as it means I have to run yet another process on all my computers.
Here is the link to the official fix:
    http://support.jungledisk.com/forums/30233/entries/47820

Of course the real fix is to use zotero storage, which will be available "in the near future"
  • I've just tried verifying my file storage with the https://legacy.myjungledisk.com as suggested above and it worked. Now that I have kicked off the sync it has proceeded to resynch my entire database of attachments. This should be really sweet. Should probably take at least 24 hours. Thanks, Jungle Disk!!!!
  • It shouldn't re-upload everything unless it's actually syncing to a different folder on the server (i.e., if you now have files in two different places).

But it might just be going through to make sure all the files are the same rather than actually re-uploading them (in which case it would just count through them quickly).
  • It took less time than I feared it would. Less than 10 hours later it seems to have just about completed. The files are stored as .zip files on JungleDisk with a naming convention that is not human readable. How would I determine is there are duplicates?
  • I just tried the "legacy" thing and it gave me the following error:

"SSL certificate error connecting to www.legacy.myjungledisk.com. Load your WebDAV URL in your browser for more information."

[JavaScript Error: "uncaught exception: SSL certificate error connecting to www.legacy.myjungledisk.com. Load your WebDAV URL in your browser for more information."]

    Report ID: 2112607415

    What does this mean?
  • I agree that the best solution to this is moving everything to Zotero's servers. I'm ready to move my whole group as soon as the additional storage is available--hey Zotero devs, I'm dying to send you my money!
