Problem when locating a file

I'm using a new 64 bit computer, and I'm having a little problem I didn't have on my old 32 bit computer : accessing the zotero STORAGE folder. Instead of leading to Zotero's storage folder, Calibre's library opens instead.
Despite the path in my general preferences being home/marc/zotero, I'm always led to the path home/marc/calibre.

As always, my default PDF viewer is Foxit-Reader, and when I ask to open a pdf file, Foxit-reader opens the right file from the zotero storage folder. But I cannot access this file in zotero's storage folder when I ask for it.

Thanks for your help !

I'd guess that you're using a third-party sandboxed version of Zotero. We can only help with the tarball from this site or the zotero-deb package.

  • Thanks for your precious support !
Here is what I get when I ask information about zotero :

Is this a third party sandboxed version ?
If so, do i unsinstall the actual version to install another one ?

It's a question of how you installed it. But from what you describe, you're almost certainly running a sandboxed third-party package, yes.
  • So, if I understand you correctly, i have to uninstall this current version, to re-install a new non-sandboxed version ?
Following the instructions as previously recommended here : https://www.zotero.org/support/installation#linux

That or contact the package maintainer for help.
  • Excuse me but i am not a Linux expert.
All i can do to uninstall and reinstall zotero is to go to my Linux Mint "application gestionnaire", and (1) uninstall what is installed, and (2) reinstall what was installed, as it appears below.

My hypopthsesis is that this uninstallment-reinstallment would fix the access problem. Am i right ? Is it risky to do so ? Or do i need to ask an expert assistance ?

Thanks again and please excuse my amateurism ! :-((

Again, you're using an unofficial, third-party package of Zotero. We can't help you with it. If you want to use a supported version of Zotero, read the link above.

If this is a Debian/Ubuntu-based system, you should probably use the zotero-deb package.
  • Does that mean that the latest version of Zotero recommended by Linux Mint MATE can be a problematic "unofficial, third-party package" ??!!
I was proposing an uninstallment-reinstallment of this same Zotero package because i had initially installed it before the Calibre's library, which could potentially explain the problem i had later when trying to access Zotero's Storage file and opening instead Calibre's library...
    Sorry to insist...
  • Sorry, i am on Linux Mint Cinnamon...

    Yes.
  • Thanks for this clear answer ! I will follow your advice 1 :-))
