Zotero is not letting me view locally saved pdfs on iOS

edited June 7, 2024
When I try to open locally stored pdfs, it shows Warning: This document has been changed on another device. Please reopen it to continue editing. However, it is a locally saved pdf, not accessible on any other device. And despite logging out of all other devices, rebooting Zotero. Logging out, and re-downloading the pdf onto zotero, still the same error is showing.

This is on iOS? Be sure to say when that's what you're referring to — otherwise people are always going to assume you're referring to the desktop app.

There's no such thing as a "locally stored PDF" in the iOS app, which syncs everything (though it's true that you're at your file-storage quota and additional files aren't being uploaded). But you shouldn't get that error if the file isn't being modified elsewhere.

Can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing this error?
  • It worked after I deleted the whole element, and then again uploaded to zotero from the website. Since I am on a bit of a deadline, I did it already for all my articles. If it happens again, will try to get a debug ID and send. Still confused about why that error happened in the first place.

This should be fixed in version 1.0.38 of the app, now available. Sorry for the trouble.
